Summary:
Ampipe, Pennsylvania is a dying mill town and the only way for people there to move up in the world is to move out. Stef is a high school football player who hopes to buy himself a brighter future. Nickerson is the coach who fights to parlay a winning team into a big-time coaching position. Lisa has her own dreams and Stef loves her. They all live in Ampipe, a town as rich in family ties and Eastern European ethnicity as it is poor in hope.
