Summary:
The debut season of a Star Trek television series that took place slightly farther on in the future than the iconic original Star Trek did (a future that, unsurprisingly, bore a greater resemblance to the 1980s than that 1960s-flavored future of Kirk and Spock did), the crew of its U.S.S. Enterprise--especially the intrepid, considerably less feckless and occasionally somewhat more pompous Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart--that came to rival the original one in the hearts and minds of Star Trek fans worldwide.
