Summary:
THIS BRIEF BUT IMPORTANT BOOK HAS A TWO FOLD PURPOSE. FIRST, TO SHOW THAT ALTHOUGH TEDDY ROOSEVELT AND THE ROUGH RIDERS GOT THE GLORY, AFRICAN AMERICAN SOLDIERS WERE ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT IN DEFEATING THE SPANISH, AND SECONDLY, TO SHOW THAT AS A RESULT OF THE AMERICAN VICTORY, THE UNITED STATES CHANGED FROM AN ISOLATIONIST COUNTRY TO ONE DEEPLY INVOLVED IN WORLD AFFAIRS.
