Looks at the House of Windsor after the crisis of the abdication of Edward VIII, the Japanese Imperial throne after Japan's defeat in World War II, the Hashimite monarchy of Jordan after the creation of Israel and the rise of Nasser's Egypt, the Belgian monarchy after accusations of capitulation to the Nazis, and the Spanish monarchy after the death of Franco.
