A reprint of a novel on the lot of Irish women early this century when education was considered unsuitable for women. The heroine, Mary Lavelle, goes to Spain to be a governess in an aristocratic family and has an affair with a married man. The book was banned in Ireland when it was published in 1936 and its author died destitute.
