Summary:
Saraswati Chandra is a social worker who would rather remain a bachelor but pleases his father by becoming engaged to Kumud. After receiving a letter from Kumud, he decides to meet her in person. He falls in love with her, but his stepmother does not approve. She does not want Saraswati Chandra to leave the house. Kumud is then forced to marry Pramodh, a spoiled son of a rich deewan. Eventually Pramodh dies and Kumud and Saraswati are able to resume their relationship.
