Summary:
Disc 1, Episode one. Something to treasure: Hetty and Geoffrey head to Cumbria, where a miner's widow enlists them in the search for a missing book penned by her late husband. The widow claims the book was stolen. But is she really after the book--or its map to a cache of precious minerals hidden somewhere inside the mine? -- Episode 2. Family values: When a wealthy client asks Hetty to investigate suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of his brother, Robert poses as a wheelchair-bound relative to flush out the dead man's devious housekeeper. Geoffrey assumes the role of Robert's faithful chauffeur and valet. Together, the three detectives uncover a hidden identity--and darker, even more duplicitous motives.
Disc 2, Episode 3. Digging for dirt: Enid Weston has barricaded herself inside her flat to protest the building's imminent razing. Investigating Enid's charges of dirty dealing in the construction business, Hetty and Geoffrey come to believe that a time capsule buried deep within the old building holds secrets. But some people will go to any lengths to keep them buried. -- Episode 4. Mind over muscle: Dawn Halliwell, Hetty's hairdresser, finds herself in a tangle, and it's not over tresses. Her husband, Russ, got mugged in a public loo. Was the attack random? Or did Russ do something to provoke it? Hetty unsnarls a twisted tale of greed, jealousy, and revenge.
Disc 3, Episode 5. Blood relations: Visiting her long-lost cousin Kate in the remote fishing village of Kirkewell, Hetty takes on the case of a lady who hears strange sounds in the night. The villager believes that the Devil has sent a padfoot, or evil dog, to disturb her slumbers. But Hetty and Geoffrey discover a more earthly explanation: there's nefarious game afoot in this not-so-sleepy town. Episode 6. For love nor money: Soon after taking a job at a Victorian heritage museum, Marianne Clark disappears. She was last seen dashing out of the museum, still in costume. How could a woman dressed as a 19th-century school mistress vanish into thin air? The answer tests Geoffrey's keen powers of observation and Hetty's formidable powers of deduction.
