Summary:
Through pictures, film clips and interviews this program tells the history of the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. Beginning in the 1920s under an earlier name and with a white audience, it changed ownership and its name to the 125th Street Apollo in 1934. It became the starting place (through its amateur nights) and a showcase for the black entertainment industry.
