Fifteen-year-old Colie was overweight until she lost more than 40 pounds. Yet she still carries with her the memories of the torment she experienced from peers. When her mother, a successful aerobics guru, takes her fat-fighting program to Europe for the summer, Colie goes to live with her eccentric and wise Aunt Mira in Colby, North Carolina. There, she befriends smart 20-something waitresses Isabel and Morgan, who help her land a job at the local diner. She also meets Aunt Mira's boarder, a sensitive young artist named Norman, who she soon realizes makes her heart smile.
