A favorite folk tale comes to life in these pages. The charming settings and costumes and the elves are real personalities although pictorially they make only a few appearances, doing a good deed and surprised to have it returned. The fine clothes seem to go a little to their heads. As for the shoemaker and his wife, they become our friends as we watch them in their house.
