Typescript. Two poems by Yuzuru Katagiri that has been translated into English by Gary Snyder along with two others (Karen Brazell and Masa Snyder.) First poem is signed and dated on the third page by Katagiri on March 12, 1971, and by Gary Snyder, dated 12.III.40071. Gary Snyder has annotated bottom of first page with line from poem "five times more bombs have fallen on N. Viet-Nam than were dropped on Japan in World War II." This poem is listed in McNeil as F2, part of a series of Japanese poems that were recorded live in 1971 at the Guggenheim Museum. The recording entitled "3 Japanese Poets" was made by the Japan Society. Katagiri was part of the recording along with Ryuichi Tamura and Shuntaro Tanikawa with Snyder and Harold P. Wright on hand as translators. The poems protest Japanese involvement in the Vietnam War.
