Summary:
Bookish Scotty Smalls moves to a new town, and wants more than anything to be part of the neighborhood's pickup baseball team, the only problem is that he doesn't know how to play. When he meets the other eight boys they begin the summer of a lifetime, filled with baseball, first kisses, wild adventures, and confronting the ball-eating beast that lives behind the left field fence.
