Summary:
La Piscine: Lovers Marianne and Jean-Paul spend their vacation in a villa near St.-Tropez. The main feature of the villa is a swimming pool, stage for most of the action. After a visit Marianne invites former lover Harry and his teenage daughter Penelope to stay. Tension between the grown-ups rises especially when Jean-Paul seduces Penelope. The consequences are deadly.
Diaboliquement votre: George Campo searches desperately for his sanity after a near-fatal car crash and three weeks in a coma, when he awakes to a strange new life and can't remember a thing. He becomes convinced that someone wants him dead.
La veuve couderc: While hiding from the police, Jean meets the Widow Couderc, a farmer's widow, and becomes her servant and lover. At the end the police discover his hide-out, encircle the farm and start moving in on him.
Le gitan: A long-suffering gypsy sets out to steal from the rich to provide sustenance to his fellow gypsies, all of them desperate and treated like trash by French society. Constatly outwitting the authorities as he moves deftly from place to place with the help of accomplices, this king of beggars ultimately cannot break the chain of displacement.
Notre histoire: A desperate alcoholic reaches a turning-point in his life when he meets a strange woman in a railway carriage: they make love, but then she leaves. Chasing after the girl, he clings to her as if she were his final chance.
