Fictional account, based on a true story of the war against IEDs. Donated by The Author, Curt Swarm.
Summary:
"The war in Iraq rapidly changed from one of gun battles and kicking in doors, to a war against Improvised Explosive Devices (IED's). Two Iowa National Guard soldiers were uniquely equipped, because of their civilian backgrounds, to statistically analyze where and when these IED's were placed by insurgents, something the entire U.S. military wasn't able to accomplish. As a result, countless lives were saved and the war in Iraq was turned. But not without a price. "Task Force IED' is the fictional account, based on a true story, of this fight against IED's, the toll it took on the soldiers involved and the families at home. Alcoholism, drug addiction, infidelity, suicide, bankruptcy, and general deterioration plagued the National Guard and the military in general following deployment. Why? This story attempts to address the question and offer a positive solution." from the back cover.
