A massacre in the San Juan Mountains. The evidence suggests a band of renegade Utes, probably angry over a new treaty, slaughtered an outfit of prospectors. Lieutenant Elliot Turner and a small patrol of cavalry troopers leave out of Fort Garland to investigate. When his patrol comes under attack, the young lieutenant must find a way to survive for Four Days Outside of Del Norte.
