Summary:
A corrupt lawyer known for representing the worst criminals in the area turns up dead on the county line, and seasoned Maksville County Sheriff Alden Rockwell loses the fight over jurisdiction to newly-appointed York County Sheriff Jo Porter. Unable to shake his suspicions of a local mob boss, Alden investigates on his own, creating hostility between him and Jo. When the case gets personal, they must put aside their differences to catch the killer.
