Summary:
Although he is popular and kind, because he is not very clever and has little money Hughie Erskine discovers that he will be unable to marry Laura Merton, the woman he loves, because her father won't allow anyone to marry her who doesn't have 10,000 pounds. Hughie gives a beggar, who is modeling for an artist friend of his, some money. The model turns out to be a millionaire, who gives Hughie 10,000 pounds, allowing him to marry Laura.
