"The award-winning The Florida Project focuses on a single mother, her young daughter, and her daughter's friends who live in a run-down motel near Disney World, too poor to afford more stable housing but with barely enough money to keep them off the streets. Although his previous films had captured some attention on the film-festival circuit, it was this film that brought Sean Baker greater notoriety as an independent filmmaker.
