Notes:
Appears to be a reprint of the 1899 version published by I. & M. Oppenheimer. IaU "As 'all the world and the rest of mankind' dream dreams, it has been our purpose on these pages to give a full and clearly defined interpretation thereof, with the numerical combinations applicable thereto. To all who may desire to tempt fortune through their own or others' dreams, it will prove a valuable book of references, and lead to the solving of much that would without it be mystified and incomprehensible"--Preface "New key to find your own numbers based on systems of the ancients ... study of harmony in numbers"--Cover "Consists of nine separate alphabetical lists of objects and situations found in dreams with interpretations and lucky numbers for playing policy, an illegal (and now obsolete) lottery once popular in the Black community. Also included is a reprint of a 19th century French divination system called the 'Oraculum or Book of Fate, ' [p. 53] based on an old Arabic system of sand-divination commonly called geomancy. 'Aunt Sally's' was first published by Wehman Bros. in 1889." From Lucky Mojo Curio Co. website, viewed on November 16, 2011 "4.11.44." (pictured on a card held by the woman on p. [1] of the cover) refers to numbers frequently chosen by poor African Americans while gambling. The 4, 11, 44 bet became known as the "washerwoman's gig" after it was featured on the cover of Aunt Sally's Policy Players' Dream Book. Cf.
