A man runs off with his wife's 18-year-old daughter in this novel. They arrive at the farm of Stewart Hoag, ghostwriter, sleuth and friend, and ask to be put up. He takes them in, but soon after the man is found murdered. Suspects include the girl's mother, the girl's father and the girl's boyfriend. By the author of The Man Who Cancelled Himself.
