Tommaso non si arrende, insegue ciò che gli sembra possibile. "Vivere quello che resta, ricordare. E conoscere qualcuna delle mille cose che non so. Comincio in ritardo, ho poco tempo, ma spero di non sprecarlo più." Per questo forse accetta di aiutare Jolanda, albanese dagli occhi molto celesti confinata in un campo alla periferia di Roma, che però con lui si fa esigente fino alla sfrontatezza. Per questo, abbandonato lo storytelling aziendale, racconta fiabe al nipotino Giovanni cullandosi nel tepore di un affetto incondizionato. Si commuove spesso, Tommaso, piange perfino di fronte a una statua, la Pietà Rondanini. Dentro una baracca di lamiere e cartone, fra le pagine di un libro di favole, ai piedi di un capolavoro del non finito "che ci ricorda che noi apparteniamo a un amore infinito" succede comunque qualcosa: Tommaso intravede la via per una rinascita, non importa quanto effimera." front flap. "Tommaso Alfieri looks at his life and realizes he has squandered it. He has made a career, he has traveled halfway around the world, he has had daring women, but it seems that he has nothing left of all this. He has lost Evelina, his adored wife who has found attention elsewhere, and the children have gone their separate ways. He is alone. He thinks he has understood where he went wrong, he would like to restore the right value to his days, but he doesn't know how much he has left: if it is easy to secure the money earned, nothing it is guaranteed in the existence of a man, especially if health falters. Tommaso does not give up, he pursues what seems possible to him. "Living what is left, remembering. And know some of the thousand things I don't know.
