Summary:
After a catastrophe ends the trek to Mt. Everest for John Laughlin, inspired fellow climbers set out to brave the elements and follow John's dream to conquer the world's tallest peak. Determined investigative reporter Norman Kelly chronicles their daily struggle and, when mutiny seems to destroy hope of reaching the summit, injured climber Laurie Skreslet leads the group across creaking icefalls, gaping chasms, and through the 'death zone' in an effort to survive.
