Thirteen-year-old Gemma dreads spending the summer on a ramshackle farm with a great-uncle she's never even met. When her tinkering cousin finds a hideous bicycle in an abandoned shed, Gemma's summer goes from boring to baffling in an instant. The locals want to steal it, her uncle wants to bury it, and Gemma has to learn how to ride it. What secrets does the bicycle keep, and what will it teach Gemma about herself?
