Summary:
Its 1982 near San Francisco, and 17 year old Gabe wants to marry Jasmine, but as a Jehovahs Witness, he must not lust. Dirty thoughts can banish him from Gods favor, leading to eternal death. Gabe caves in to his desires, and is excommunicated, banned from friends and family. To repent and reenter the faith, he frequents the library, and discovers Henry Miller, Charles Bukowski and Louis-Ferdinand Celine. The authors open the door to life thats romantic and messy, yet poignant and beautiful.
