Summary:
"In the fall of 1950, Lutz and Emmi are arrested after the police raid a bar-room brawl. They are not sentenced to prison but instead they are forced to work in an uranium mine in Wismut. Their new home is full of characters with unusual destinies: old anarchists working next to former SS members and Russian officers. Emotions collide, as well as fists." When work began on the screenplay in 1957 constant objections from both the GDR government and Russian cultural authorities were encountered; in 1958 after the film's premiere it was forbidden and was only released in 1971.
