Summary:
Ceremony held at Iowa State University during VEISHEA 1992 to honor Tom and Jean Sutherland. Tom Sutherland recounts some of his experiences from his six and a half years as a hostage in Beirut, relates the meaning of hearing the ringing of the campanile bells on the VOA radio broadcast, shares some memories of fellow hostage and Iowa State alum Terry Anderson, and, along with his wife Jean, answers questions from the audience. The ceremony concludes with recognition of major contributors to the renovation of the Stanton Memorial Campanile.
