Catalog for an exhibition held at the Musée du Louvre May 18-September 11, 2000. The catalog contains reproductions of engravings by Louis-Pierre Baltard and André Legrand which replicate the drawings of Charles Le Brun. The engravings were commissioned for an earlier exhibition held in 1806, which was organized for the Musée Napoleon by its then director, Dominique-Vivant Denon. Includes the text of: Dissertation sur un traité de Charles le Brun, concernant le rapport de la physionomie humaine avec celle des animaux; ouvrage enrichi de la gravure des dessins tracés pour la démonstration de ce système (published Paris, 1806), which was written by Louis-Marie-Joseph Morel d'Arleux to accompany the first exhibition of the engravings.
