Summary:
Story of a woman from the time of her marriage until her death. It is a story of her life experiences - births, deaths and hardships. It captures how this ordinary woman goes about leading her life and her thought process at various junctures of her life. It is a story of the strength and determination of this woman to scale hardships and continue to live a life with hope and sanity in circumstances of utter hopelessness. It also narrates the existential experiences of a set of people connected to her and presents each person's view of life. Thus, in addition to being a story, it is also depicts social history of Tumkur and surrounding districts of Karnataka as it catalogues the experiences of ordinary people in this geographical region during the years of 1925- 1942.
