England, 1926. Jackie wants to marry Wilhelm-- and to be an artist. When his family goes back to Germany, she has no doubt he will return to her. Years later, she takes a post as companion to a blind woman, Verity, on her Gloucestershire fruit farm. But life on the farm is not as idyllic as it at first appears.
