Summary:

The story of nomadic "seburi" people who used to live in the mountains in isolation from society in the westen part of Japan.They strictly follow their own codes and costoms, and make straw products for their living. As the World War II approaches, their way of living becomes really incompatible with that of modern society and they face prejudice and a lack of understanding from the general public.
