Summary:
Neither biography nor traditional documentary, this film is actually an after-lunch discussion between Jean Renoir and the French actor Michel Simon. The two old friends talk about their collaboration on various films and reminisce about the past. In the course of the conversation, Renoir discusses his approach to filmmaking, and how he prefers improvisational acting, open air shooting, and stories which stress the changeable nature of morality. The film also contains numerous clips from the movies the two men made together.
