Los Ratas (The Rats) is a novel built from a succession of anecdotes commemorating a people who have disappeared from modern Spanish Castile. It focuses on the life of Nini and Petty, who lived inside a cave, and make a living by the hunting of rats along the river. The fight between tradition, modernity and social injustice are exhibited in the lives of the children.
