(Producer) Glaucoma affects more than 50,000,000 people worldwide and is the second leading cause of blindness. This silent disease often takes its victims by surprise, causing irreversible damage. This program provides an overview of glaucoma-its risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis and current treatment options, and the role of heredity. Physicians provide clinical explanations of open- and closed-angle glaucoma. Patients from high-risk groups-those over age 60, people on steroid drugs, and African-Americans-share their experiences in managing the disease.
