Summary:
Stanley Yelnats is unfairly sentenced to detention at Camp Green Lake for a crime he did not commit. He and his campmates are forced to dig holes in order to build character. Nobody knows why they are digging holes, so the campmates decide to plot an escape and solve the mystery of the Yelnats family curse.
