Summary:
Munir, a freelance journalist, being unable to enlist public support for his various causes, tries to improve the lot of his fellow man in person rather than in print. But for every one of his good intentions, there are dozens of reasons for the reporter to give up the ghost, not least of which is the near-lunatic behavior of his immediate family. Given the tragedies that have plagued Bangladesh since its formation as a separate country, one shouldn't be surprised that the overriding atmosphere of Dahan is one of gloom and despair. The film's title translates literally to "Affliction".
