Documentary film following ten female teenagers on their quest to become instant superstars on the second season of Super girls singing contest, China's biggest television show, patterned on American idol. Its runaway popularity spurred the Chinese government to ban it after only two seasons. Through candid interviews and footage of auditions and competitions, the film provides a look inside what the Chinese media have dubbed "The Lost Generation" and their takes on sexuality and success in the new China.
