Summary:
-- back cover
"This book explores spaces of sexual diversity from the search for freedom and identity to family life in two works, one for young people, Unisex, about a hairdresser in Acapulco, and another for children, Ma². Mamá al cuadrado (and other family stories). In the first, we accompany three voices from Acapulco who regularly meet in a place that unites them from their individuality: Jimmy's beauty salon, a space that he has witnessed the intimacy, fear, acceptance and freedom that comes with being different in a society full of stigmas. In the second, the author explores a completely different space: that of the family. We navigate through the thoughts of Ainhoa and Eder, two children who share nothing more than having unconventional families. Through them we can see how confusing it is to go from not having a mother to living with two, after spending ten years in an orphanage, as well as how boring an eight-hour drive every week to live with two families can be. In both stories the reader will find characters who defy established norms, who constantly question their identity and belonging to the place where they live, to realize that the real world is more complex than they imagine.
