Summary:
13 year old Ranu is the eldest child in an impoverished Brahmin family. She dotes on Kamal, a lively and endearing goat. When Ranu gets engaged to Gopal, the family considers making a little money by selling Kamal. However the smart goat outwits his masters every move to sell him. An encounter with a city man leaves Ranu with a strange feeling and she wonders if marrying early is indeed the right thing to do. Meanwhile Kamal goes missing. Lulu, Ranu's tribal friend, saddened by Ranu's pain, goes looking for the goat. But will he find the goat and will Ranu get married at such a young age?
