Summary:
Illicit passions pervade a small Italian seaside village, where men gather nightly in the local tavern for the "game of the law." Marietta, a beautiful young servant woman, is lusted after by many of these men, but only has eyes for a handsome young engineer. Unfortunately, he is broke so Marietta decides to steal a dowry. In so doing she exposes the town's rampant corruption and faces the wrath of the players of "The Law."
