Summary:
An early all-sound film with an all-black cast which depicts the life of a rural southern family of cotton farmers. After getting a good price for his crop, Zeke is lured by a seductress named Chick into gambling in a rigged dice game, after which he accidentally kills his younger brother in the fight to recover his cash. He repents and becomes a powerful preacher but meets temptation when Chick becomes an apparent convert.
