Summary:
Based on two noh plays, "Tenko" and "Fuji taiko," "Ten no tsuzumi" tells a story of Nijihito, a brilliant player of Japanese hand drum in the Heian period. He was discovered abandoned by Ama no Kawa River along with a special drum and raised to be a drum player. One night, young Nijihito unintentionally offends the Emperor who passionately loves music by not playing the drum with his flute. Now the Emperor is after his heavenly drum.
