Summary:
Korean War veteran Jerry Shand returns home to his family and fiancée determined to get rich, no matter what the cost, after he appears on the cover of Life magazine with Marilyn Monroe. He has an affair with a wealthy young woman and accepts a shady insurance agent job. In the process of collecting insurance money in a poor area of town, he meets an elderly client who forces him to question what matters most in the world.
