Summary:
Zemli︠a︡ (69 min.), "The last great Russian "silent" film, is a story of a young man trying to instill a collectivist spirit in his Ukrainian village. Konet︠s︡ Sankt-Peterburga (89 min.) shows changing conditions in Russia as seen by a young peasant who lived through the upheaval in St. Petersburg that culminated in the revolution of 1917. Shakhmatnii︠a︡ gori︠a︡chka (28 min.) is a Keaton-esque comedy in which a young man's passion for the game threatens to wreck his marriage.
