The Palmagallarda trilogy is an account of the decline of a social class, the Andalusian landowning nobility, through the lives of the Marquis Monsalves de Tous and his family. Rosas, calas y magnolias is set on the eve of the Spanish civil war, as an aristocratic family goes abuot their lives.
