Summary:
The night before Christmas: Clement C. Moore's classic poem about a visit from St. Nicholas. In the month of Kislev: A rich, arrogant merchant takes the family of a poor peddler to court and learns a lesson about the meaning of Hanukkah. Seven candles for Kwanza: describes the origins and practices of Kwanzaa, the seven-day festival during which people of African descent rejoice in their ancestral values. Too many tamales: Maria feels very grown-up helping make Christmas dinner, until she realizes that she may have lost her mother's ring in one of the tamales. (3 bonus stories) Max's Christmas: Max is told he can't stay up to see Santa, but he sneaks downstairs anyway. Will Santa still come if Max is awake? Morris's disappearing bag: Morris thinks his brother and sister have better Christmas presents, but then he finds something very special in the last box under the tree. The Little drummer boy: Tells the story of the procession to Bethlehem and the offer of a poor boy to play his drum for the Christ Child. For primary grades.
