Carlos is sixteen and has returned to America after living in Mexico for the past year. His older brother, Alex has enrolled him in a high school for disadvantaged teens, and he must live with one of Alex's college professors. After he meets the professor's daughter, Kiara, he finds that she is nothing like the girls he is usually drawn to and his feelings for her grow. Soon Carlos and Kiara discover that matters of the heart overpower the social differences that conspire to keep them apart.
