Summary:
Kanadehon Chushingura is a popular kabuki repertoire about 47 samurais who avenge their lord's death and commit seppuku ordered by the shogun. Iemon, the protagonist of Tsuruya Nanboku's kabuki play, Yotsuya kaidan, was portrayed as one of those 47 samurais. This horror period film combines these two kabuki stories which used to be performed back to back on the stage in Edo period and retells them as an interwoven story.
