Summary:
The articles gathered in this volume hope to do justice to the complexities of the end of life and approach it from a range of different perspectives. Most authors situate their reflections in a specific context and engage the questions that arise in that situation, thereby affirming the insight that while the end of life is a universal experience of all living beings, how it is experienced and how the individuals make sense of it depends on the context. And yet, these particular concerns resonate in other contexts and may encourage a reorientation of existing discussions about the end of life to take account of issues that have so far remained hidden.--Page 13.
