This richly illustrated book, which accompanies the historic opening of the new Bauhaus Museum Weimar, showcases iconic objects from the museum's collection--the oldest such collection in the world--and offers essential context for understanding the truth behind the myth of the Bauhaus. The entries in this volume discuss core concepts of the period, such as the New Man and the design of everyday life. Throughout, the reader finds echoes of a simple question, one that is as pressing today as when the first members of the school posed it: "How do we want to live?"
