After base stabilization, the roadway was then seal coated, eliminating dust problems associated with granular surfaced roads. When monies become available, the roadway can be surfaced with a more permanent structure. A 2.8 mi. (4.5 km) section of the Horseshoe Road in Dubuque County was divided into four divisions for this study. This report discusses the procedures used during construction of these different divisions. Problems and possible solutions have been analyzed to better understand the capabilities of the materials and construction techniques used on the project. The project had the following results: High structural ratings and Soil K factors for the BIO CAT and Consol id bases did not translate to good roadway performance. The Macadam base had the best overall performance. The Tensar fabric had no noticeable effect on the Macadam base. The HFE-300 performed acceptably. 533 $a Online version. $b Ames, Iowa : $c Iowa Department of Transportation, $d 2014. $e PDF file hosted on Iowa Publications Online. 536 $a Sponsored by the Iowa Highway Research Board. $d HR-312 650 0 $a Dust control $z Dubuque County. $z Dubuque County. 650 0 $a Roads $z Dubuque County $z Dubuque County $x Base courses. 650 0 $a Rural roads $z Dubuque County. $z Dubuque County. 650 0 $a Roads $z Iowa $x Design and construction. 650 7 $a Dust control. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00899652 650 7 $a Roads $x Base courses. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01098523 650 7 $a Roads $x Design and construction. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01098548 650 7 $a Rural roads. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01101800 651 7 $a Iowa. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01205835 651 7 $a Iowa $z Dubuque County. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01212637 653 $a CGP Iowa Highway Research Board Project HR-312 700 1 $a Callahan, Mark, $e author. $4 aut 700 1 $a Harris, Gary, $e author. $4 aut 700 1 $a Tymkowicz, Shane, $e author. $4 aut 710 1 $a Iowa. $b Highway Research Board. 710 1 $a Iowa. $b Highway Division. 776 0 $c Original $w (OCoLC)29894622 856 40 $z Connect to this publication in Iowa Publications Online: $u http://publications.iowa.gov/16896/ 941 $a 1 952 $l IAOX771 $d 20240710103001.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=06B369BC493211E49277FB87DAD10320 994 $a C0 $b IOZInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
